General Information:

Update Feb 12, 2024: I have updated the aerial photo based on Dan Dusseau's input. The outline of the track can be seen on the 1954 aerial. I am using the address of Dusseau Auto Parts as it sits on the lot of the old track.

My family owned Maple City Speedway in the late forties last races was 49 . It is now a auto wrecking yard and is still in operation. My father and grandpa had cars that raced here and at the fairgrounds. The track is a mile south of the fairgrounds on Treat hwy. There is nothing left but the memories of the older generation that went to the races. My grandpa told me them old hobo cars with the old flathead Fords old Hudsons and so on went as fast as some now days. It was a half mile dirt not much bank if any nothing like today.

i grew up in adrian about one mille east of the lenawee county fairgrounds of which you refer. the track in the photo is the horese track which has been there for over a century. the track still has the original grand stands to the left lower portiion of the photo in front of that is where the stock car track was configured and the pit area was in the spot in the center where it appears to be dirt. my borther orivlle richardson built and raced cars there late forty's until about 1956. he was partnered with paul timmerman and they had cars 0, 00 and 000 when i was able to tag along it was the highlite of my life i was born in forty three and oriville is 15 yrs older than I. do not remember the year the track first closed but in the earlie 80 there was a few races held to try to bring the track back for motor racing but there were just 4 or 5 races. paul r

Hey Randy, from what I see on Mapquest, the road which curls under the track to the south is called Racetrack Rd. and the one to the east is called Main Entrance Rd. Be great if it was an actual track!

I noticed as I was looking at an arial of Adrian, Mi., there is a oval track located near N. Dean St. & E. Maumee St. that looks very fresh (i.e. as there is activity there and kept up). It has a lead in road called Race Track Rd. Is this a stock car track? It appears to have a pit area. Or is this the fairgrounds? Does anyone know what this is? If you check on mapquest and go to ariel images, you will see what I am talking about. Just wondering...
