Locals called it Dirty Floyds in the ''70s. It definitely was NOT surrounded by tall trees. The owner installed flood lights on top of tall poles & aimed at the road nearby so you couldn''t get a clear view of the screen. Unless you stopped ;-).

The Hastings went X-rated in the late 70s making alot of the locals unhappy (but filling the lot). An anti-pornography religion based pressure group had regular revival meetings about its status as a passion pit and about 1 hour after one nighttime meeting the screen tower was destroyed by an arson fire. No prosecutions as far as I know but it seemed at the time as if the police knew who had done it but lacked evidence or inclination to prosecute. Too bad, as the site was completely surrounded by tall trees and could not be seen by anyone that wasnt a paying customer. After the heyday of X-rated films it might have become a family theater again; sigh.
I hope the perps feel guilty.
I sure miss the drive-ins that used to be everywhere.

The brick marquee and ticket booth remain, altough the ticket booth looks to be in the process of being torn down.

Closed after an arson fire, possibly by residents angry about XXX fare.
