General Information:

AKA Skyview

The Skyview Drive-In opened on May 27, 1949. The car capacity for the drive-in was listed at 500. In-car heaters were installed in 1959. The Skyview Drive-In was later renamed the Sky Drive-In. It was originally owned by Wm. Jenkins and later Jim Palmer, who renamed it Jim-n-ees Drive-In. The Sky Drive-In closed in 1987 and was later demolished. The property is now the site of a Kohl’s Department Store.

The black and white photos #8 and 9th from the bottom are inside the original concession stand. This burned down and was replaced by a brick concession. Guessing in the early 60s.

I remember as a little girl in the mid 70's playing in what seemed like a rocket slide, and during intermission I would go out and swing during the commercials, and watched the people as they would go to the consession stand.

The sign post that was there was an exit sign. Because I seen it when I would ride my bicycle by there on the weekends. I also noticed the go-cart place that was there, now that is gone now as well. Now, there is a Kohl's there. They should have NEVER torn that drive-in down. It was the last regular one standing in Lenawee County ( to those that don't know, it's pronounced "Len-a- way"). The very last one around here was one that would show christian films. About a year or two ago, it's owner passed on and it was demolished also.

A recent site inspection reveals that a go-kart track is on the site, utilizing what may possibly the old concession stand (remodeled) and road sign. There is also a sign that appears to be an old entrance (or exit) sign by the street near what appears to be the remnants of an old driveway.
