General Information:

The South Dort Drive-In was opened on December 26, 1963 with Charlton Heston in “El Cid” presented in 70mm, & Fred Astaire in “The Pleasure of His Company”. It was built and operated by William Oleksyn to replace the Dort Drive-In. The first Dort Drive-In was demolished and replaced by the Dort Mall in 1963. Around 1964 the South Dort Drive-In was purchased by Butterfield Theaters. This drive-in had a capacity for 1,200 cars. The South Dort Drive-In closed around 1985.
