General Information:

The Twilite Drive-In opened in 1948 and was run by R.J. Ashmun. The drive-in was still open in 1955. It has since been demolished and the marquee is preserved on a building across the street.

The marquee was on the building of The Listening Room. Doing some research it appears The Listening Room moved to a different location, and on their website they state that the mural was up until 2014 and they have a video of the lighting ceremony. Going down to street view I cannot locate the marquee anywhere so it appears that this one is lost.

I used to work there in 1978-79 If you remember the lights around the snack bar were blue in color. I still have some of these lights at my dads house in my bedroom. The drive-in burnt down and I got the lights out of the old building before they rebuilt the new one. I was working in the snack bar stand out side the building when I quit working there. I was walking home and stopped at bill Knapp restaurant and got a job there. Wow have times changed!!

The property has been purchased by Menards. A large home improvement store will be built beginning Spring 2006.

One of the other signs from the Twilte is also to be found in the wooden building by Pet Paradise on Gratiot.

Some of the driveway remains, the sign has been preserved and still shines on a building across the street.

Saginaw Township — (07-03-02)--A historic piece of Saginaw Townships nightlife will once again shine brightly. Crews have started installing a neon sign from the former Twilight drive-in onto the outside wall of the Listening Room.
