General Information:

The Crest Drive-In opened in September 8, 1950 with a capacity for 800 cars. Around 1973 the drive-in was sold and the new owners started showing adult movies. The Crest Drive-In closed in 1984 and a church is now located on the site.

We lived behind the Crest, and I remember when they installed flood lights to keep the screen concealed from the neighbors. Thank you for this site, it's awesome.

The entrance and exit signs ended up at the Mt Pleasant MI fairgrounds as their entrance and exit signs on old 27 ( N. Mission rd ). They were there for 20 yrs but I do not remember if they still are.

In the base of the Crest Drive-In screen was an apartment, originally occupied by the owner or manager I think. In the early 1960's a friend of mine, Butch Nye, rented and lived in this apartment with his wife and a child. I visited them one time, and we went out the back door with our beers, and sat in lawn chairs and watched 'Mary Poppins'.
