I worked at the Campus Theater between 1976 - 1979 while attending MSU. I started as a doorman (ticket taker) and eventually worked as a manager after Mr. Rosenfeld retired. This was a fantastic old theater. Upstairs, next to the projectionist booth, we had a crying room.
This was a sound proofed room where mothers could watch the movies with crying babies. We only had one screen at the time and movies generally stayed from 2 to 8 weeks. The most difficult part of working the door was deciding which friends from school you could let in without getting in trouble. Once, a girl brought her whole entire dorm floor and I had to be the heavy insisting that they buy tickets! After the film started, the doorman needed to mop the small tiled area in front of the concession stand.
but, that was it.
After the mopping was finished, I could catch up on some reading. The biggest film that showed during my time there was Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta.
