As of September 2011, the building was being used as the city recreation center. Also, the previous owners were a Mr. and Mrs. Brown and it closed somewhere around 1955 or 1956 as I have seen local newspaper ads from around that time indicating the Arcade was still in operation.

I was born and raised in Leslie. The old Arcade Theater was long gone by the time I was born. I have read some things about it in history books of Leslie. Such as it was one of the only theaters around during it''s time that had a cry room if patrons were overcome by emotion. In my childhood the theater had become an IGA supermarket but I remember it mostly as Schmidt''s Supermarket.

After Schmidt''s went out of business it sat vacant for quite awhile and eventually did become an autoparts store and remained so for a good number of years. Just in the past couple of years the Autoparts store went out of business and it again sat empty. It has just been bought and turned into a Banquet hall for meetings, receptions, parties, etc.

I will get some pics taken of it when I get back into town and get them on here. Rob Gibson.

A recent site inspection reveals the Leslie still stands and is now an auto parts store.

The town of Leslie lies east of US-127 north of Jackson. Another small downtown house that could not survive the changing times of the 1960's.

June 1960 Issue - Tom Reed and James Mierzejewski, who recently re-opened the Arcade at Leslie, are switching to a three-day-a-week operation - weekends only.
