The outside is even further along then the April pictures. We shall see if it does indeed open the 19th. Funny thing is w used to have 2 theaters one is now the ace hardware on south Saginaw (exact same building as the old theater) and the other was in the building that the all sports complex is now in (next to invaders carwash). I live maybe 2 min away from this new theater and will try and take some pictures this weekend.

Theater duel claims a casualty Grand Blanc Twp. project moves ahead (ABC12 Image) By Joel Feick Grand Blanc Twp. — (05/08/05)-- There were big plans and there was some big talk. Now there have been some big changes for a mid-Michigan movie theater proposal. Two new movie theater complexes proposed for the Grand Blanc area were racing to see who could start first.

One started construction this week. It appears the other will never show a single movie. Construction is underway on a 14-screen movie theater complex that will include stadium seating, rocker chairs and Dolby digital sound. Its the centerpiece of the Trillium Circle development, a lifestyle center that will feature a mix of shopping, offices and entertainment on Holly Road near McCandlish.

Its developer became concerned when a Troy-based company announced plans for a similar 14-screen complex just a few miles away. I dont think the market can support multiple locations, said developer Dan Parks. Now the Troy-based company, Emagine Entertainment, tells the Flint Journal that its project probably isnt going to happen, citing essentially the same reason-too many theaters. That comes as good news to the Neighborhood Cinema Group, the Owosso-based theater chain that will operate Trillium Cinema here.

So, in this battle over theaters, Grand Blanc Townships win is Holly Townships loss. The plans are to open the retro-style cinemas in about six months. Its patterned after a similar development in the Lansing area at Eastwood Towne Center. He expects 700,000 to 750,000 people a year will see a movie at the complex.

The operator claims one thing that sets his cinemas apart: free refills on popcorn and pop.
