The Eastown and Butterfield and Johnson's other second run theater, the 4 Star, were built in the late 30s and were fine examples of an art-deco movie house. There were fairly large neighborhood theaters and were most successful even into the late 70s.

This theater was a bar in 1987 called Shout. It was trendy and very busy. My brother was a bouncer there on weekends. They were the first bar in the US to have midget tossing!

This quaint neighborhood house appears to date from the 30's or 40's.
