Shopping Centers in Michigan
This section is dedicated to smaller shopping centers, mostly the early indoor and outdoor facilities built in the late 50's, the
first wave of what have now become the enormous shopping complexes we see now. These centers, the first step away
from the downtown retail district, still managed to maintain some sense of character and local flavor. Many of these
are either being converted or razed in favor of centers anchored around the "big box" stores like Wal-Mart, Lowes,
Meijer and the like. For an example of that, see my feature page on the Wonderland Mall, Livonia.
