I was raised in Elk Rapids and the Cherry Bucket Restaurant was there much longer than the 1970s. It originally began as a Dairy Queen. It was built up and became the Cherry Bucket in the 1960s. I believe in the early 1960s but don't have that information at hand. I left town in 1970 and it had been open before 1964 for certain.
The Cherry Bucket goes back to the 1970's. It eventually became Elk Harbor Restaurant. That lasted until about 2016 when the Animal Hospital moved in and remodeled the building somewhat.
