The Hi-Spot goes back to 1955 and was opened by Andrew and Lawrence Gavulic who owned Flowerland next door. The cost of the project was $10 thousand dollars and the capacity was 30 cars. It was open 24 hours back then. By about 1961, a succession of businesses took over the site including Johnny's Car Lane, Satellite Bar, Blue Moon Lounge/Tavern, and finally a Beauty Supply company. The site was for sale in 1970 but there is no mention of the address in the newspaper archives beyond that.
