The 12 unit Silver Birch Motel goes back to the early 1950's at least. It changed hands in 1956 when the Boss family sold the place to the Mulvill family. The next set of owners was Corwin family who took over in 1963. In 1987, the Essenberg family took over. There may have been others also over the years. The last mention I found in the newspapers was from 2000. In the early 2000's, the building was demolished to make way for what is now Pig Eatin' Ribs restaurant. There was a motel next door called the Northwood which still stands. It is now closed it seems and was operating as the Charlevoix Motel at the end.
