General Information:

This one is another head-scratcher. I found an ad on this place that indicated it was "1 1/2 Miles West of the bridge". Up in those parts, there are 2 main bridges that may refer to. The most likely is the Mackinac Bridge. However, 1 1/2 miles West on US-2 gets you nowhere near Brevort as indicated on the postcard.

The other bridge is the Cut River Bridge. The problem there is going west of that Bridge gets you to the Epoufette/Naubinway area, not Brevort. There is a motel 1 1/2 miles West of the Cut River Bridge called the Skyline Motel. The configuration is close to the old postcards of Miswick's but not exact.

It was said on a Facebook post that Miswick's eventually was demolished due to erosion. The postcards also indicated it was "overlooking Lake Michigan". There is a motel that fits that description in Moran. It was there in the 1950's and gone soon after. It also had a unique grid pattern which were sidewalks leading to each unit that can be seen on the 50s aerial photos. That does match up with the postcard pretty well. It is also near Brevort. However, it is not 1 1/2 mile West of either Cut River Bridge or the Mackinac Bridge.

So, for now I will post this as is until I can get more information. Old postcards often are not specific and some are prone to exaggeration or deception to make their attractions seem more convenient, scenic, what have you. I could have this place completely wrong also, it may be it was at neither one of these locations. If that is the case, I will figure it out and correct this post.

The motel was operated by Thaddeus (Ted) Miswick earlier on. He eventually sold the motel in the early 60s. He had family in Niles and was back there visiting in 1966 when he witnessed a house fire and pitched in to help out. Sadly he passed away due to heart failure as a result.
