The 205-unit University Inn opened in 1966 in East Lansing near MSU. It operated for many years until it rebranded to a Park Inns International in 1990. Eventually about 1/2 of the motel complex was demolished and the remaining half operated as a Ramada Inn which had 2 fires in 2002. Howard Johnsons took over by 2006. By 2018 the entire complex was wiped out to make way for a small retail shopping plaza and SpringHill Suites.
