Yes, The theater is gone due, to Wells Fargo. It''s name was Hiawatha Theater. It showed only movies. It was open tell the 60''s then was gone to make way for a bank. Pieces of the theater are every where.

The Upper Peninsula town of Gwinn is now known for recreational activities such as hunting, snowmobiling, golf and camping. It also once had a nice little downtown theatre as this old photograph shows. I am not positive this theatre was called the "Gwinn", it is hard to read the marquee letters from behind and there is virtually no record of this theatre anywhere. This picture was from the early 1940's, if the film being shown is any indication. The James Stewart and Hedy Lamarr classic, "Come Live With Me" was released in early 1941, although it probably took a while longer to make it's way up to the little hamlet of Gwinn! Suffice to say that I was thrilled to find evidence of this, another lost and long-forgotten little picture show that once was the entertainment center of a small town.
