This old theater goes back to the 1920's or before. It was purchased by Hebert A. Wood in 1928. The theater was showed films but was also available for local events as the articles below indicate. By 1931, J.E. Nickerson leased the theater from Mr. Wood. That led to an increase in volume as movies were being shown from the big studios such as RKO, Fox, and Paramount. Nonetheless, the theater closed off and on in the 30's, perhaps for seasonal reasons. It was taken over by C.E. Price of Kalamazoo in 1932. By 1933, there was a serious fire which destroyed the rear of the theater. I have no info after that.
