 Amusement Parks
There was once over 3000 amusement parks nationwide and Michigan had it's fair share. Many of the early parks began in the late 1800's and featured large ballrooms, casinos and bathhouses. Later on, simple rides appeared and finally, more modern rides such as rollercoasters.

This is a category where Michigan has been hit pretty hard. All but one major park (Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon) has been closed and demolished. At least we have our memories and this site to remind us! Here is another situation where more input is needed from you folks out there. One site of particular interest is Manitou Beach in Devil's Lake. There was apparently quite an extensive amusement park but nobody we talked to there remembered it.
