Indoor Theaters |

Michigan is the home to some of the most beautiful Theaters in the country. There are serveral hundred still standing and many are flourishing as a result of
some dedicated folks who have taken the time to preserve and restore them. There are many exciting restoration projects taking place now
(see the Howell Opera House as an example) all over the state.
Unfortunately, Detroit and Flint in particular have suffered some tragic losses. There was once over 100 Theaters in the city of Detroit in years past, some of them
were huge, gorgeous facilities that were designed by renowned architects like C. Howard Crane, John Eberson (father of the atmospheric auditorium), Rapp & Rapp
and Charles N. Agree. It must have been amazing to see all of these movie palaces in their glory!
The grid below includes all of Theaters we know of in Michigan (so far) with the ability to filter the list by county. You can also sort the columns by clicking
on the little up and down arrows in the heading. Click on the name in the grid and it will take you to the detail page.
We have included the multi-plexes here for completeness, but the real treasures are the small, downtown Theaters that are still going strong in hundreds of small
towns state-wide.
