There was a building on this site going back before 1946. This would have been when US-12 was the main route between Detroit and Chicago, before I-94 was built. There were tons of small restaurants, motels, truck stops, tourist attractions, etc. along here. It was kind of the Route 66 of Michigan. The structure I saw when I was in this spot in 2002 seemed to go back to the 1950's.
It was last operating as the I-94 Pub but it was run under many other names over the years. I found an article on a stabbing here in 1985, and the name was the Mar-Creek Athletic Club at that time. There was a theft here in 1968 and it was the Mar-Creek Inn then. There was for an auction by the state in 1997 to sell off the contents of the building. It was up for sale in 2003, but the building was probably condemned soon after and eventually demolished sometime after 2005.
