I finally found this place again after forgetting where I took photos of it in 2002. I thought it was near White Pigeon so I basically had that right. Turns out It was right down the street in Mottville and from what I can see, it still stands. I found an ad from 1961 that mentions a 3 bedroom Colonial home, 3 mobile home spaces, and 7 modern cabins 1/2 block from the St. Joseph River. It was operated by Joseph A. Laurer at that time. This motel fits that description perfectly. It was also once owned by Opal M DeWharton.
The motel doesn't seem to be operating as a of 2023 but maybe it is apartments. The pink exterior I saw is now painted over. As for the name, the for sale ad didn't mention it. The word "Pines" appears on the sign so I will stick with that for now.
