This place started out as the Johnson House in the 1880's. The owner was Robert F. Johnson. It changed hands over the years until 1924 when it was renamed the Ohio Tavern. It became the Surrey House in 1946 when some new owners from Flint took over. Eventually the Harrison District Library took over which it remains as of 2023. You can read the full history below.
