This motel started life as a Howard Johnson's in the 1950's. It was added on to in 1960 by Charles E. Barrett and Harold C. Lauth, the owners at that time. That brought the total units to 61 but it appears there more now. It later became Colonial Motor Inn during the 1980's and was advertising apartments. It is now operating as a Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Port Huron as of 2024. You can see from the old Colonial Motor Inn postcard the distinctive Ho Jo's roof decoration was still there.
