I grew up only a block or so away from the theater and spent many a Saturday afternoon there. My strongest memory of the theater is not from a movie, though, rather it was the time when Al E. Cat and the Mayor, a Lansing-based TV show, did a live stage show there. I believe the theater closed in 1967. I remember the marquee and promo posters advertising The Graduate for years after it closed, so I assume that was the last movie shown. Everything from the far side of the theater to the open space at the Standard Service station is now gone, replaced by a drive-through bank.
