This Boy Scout Camp was used for the setting of Friday the 13th (Part 1). I was coming through the Blairstown NJ area so I had to check it out. I was able to find quite a few locations that were featured in the movie. The camp was used as the setting for the notorious Camp Crystal Lake.
The small town of Blairstown was used for some opening scenes featuring "Annie", the first victim of the movie who was on her way to take a job at the camp. She ends up hitching a ride in a Jeep with Jason's mom which seals her fate. Bear in mind at this point in the story it is Jason's mom doing the killing, not Jason himself. She was avenging his death as she blamed former camp counselors for his drowning.
There are also some scenes featuring the the Blairstown Diner at 53 NJ-94, Blairstown, NJ 07825. It is still going strong as of 2023. I did have lunch there and the the local folks are fully aware that idiots like me are checking out their town because of this movie. They were very nice about it and even had some souvenirs. I would highly recommend checking out the current street views of Blairstown New Jersey or even paying it a visit. You won't find a more picturesque little hamlet than this. Michigan is the best state but I wish we had that town here.
I also included a mystery photo of a sad place, let's see if anyone can guess as to what it is. Submit a comment if you know.
