For Ken - thank you for the info on the two pictures of Prontito. I looked at them and they are photos I already have. In fact, the photo of the yellow car is one I took. Not sure why the other gentleman's name is on the photo. Let me know if you come across any more.

Thanks again!.

Milan has a High /school & College bracket races coming up check their website for details. Taken students down since the 2nd one they had, missed a few but have had a lot of fun doing it. If your new to this go check out the track 1st find where everything is. Then go to www. staginglight.

com for an explanation on how it's done. Students race their cars, plus the 2 students built. smoke some tires, burn some hot dogs it's a day long drag racing picnic.

This past weekend (9/9-11/11) Milan Dragway hosted SPEED channels PASS TIME. They taped at least 10 episodes to be aired early 2012. The PASS TIME show personalities (Brett Wagner, Paige Simpson & Ken Herring)were all nice and cordial to the fans taking time for photos/autographs. The cars picked for the show were stellar. and a good job bythe MILAN DRAGWAY staff to keep the show rolling.

I have pics I will be sending to WWW for posting.

I have some pictures and yearbooks from Milan Dragway in the early '70's. My uncle also has a rather lengthy video that may have some of the cars you folks are looking for. My sister has my dad's old photos from this period and I am working on getting them. I will provide copies of these to anyone interested. I am looking for pictures or videos of any funny car or a '65 Malibu SS/P car lettered Release Me! on the door.

This was my uncle's car. Anyone interested, please e-mail me at kirkendalljeff@yahoo. com.

looking for old pics from 1969 or 1970 Milan Dragway for a 1969 Nova that was a dick harrell built car but sold as a street car and went racing. Car was stock with hood and cragars, ran at milan and still carries it's Michigan Record Holder sticker on the window. We even heard this car was in a Hot Rod or Pop Hot Rod mag @ the time. There should also be some time slips around from this thing at 9. 5 @ 150 ish.

Any help on slips or Milan pics or anything is appreciated to put with this rare car. Car was red and raced then by David Reaume in 69-70. call me with any info anytime. Thanks Bob Thurlow 785-241-1470.

I am looking for anyone who might have pictures or video from the mid 70's. My brother raced at Milan then. His name was John Dennis. He ran what I guess you would call street class. A '69 big block Camaro that was primed many colors.

Have one pic with a 11. 06 on the window. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. skydive182@verizon.

am looking to contact track photographer that was taking photos 10-31-10 @ starting line, Please e-mail me any info re: this gentleman, as we are looking for copies?.
12/7/2010 - Dave Crane
I am trying to find out who the track photographer might have been at Milan Dragway in 1971, '72 and '73. I ran an Injected 426 Chrysler B/D at Milan during this time period and have no photos of the car in action. I ran a shorty torqueflyte trans and carried the front wheels in first and second on every pass and put on a good show. At the time a photographer told me he had some real good shots of me coming off the line and I gave him my card and told him I would be real interested in them. I should have got his card because I never heard from him.

That was almost 40 years ago and now I wish I had some shots of the car running. I have my own drag racing museum here in Battle Creek and have photos of lots of cars on the wall, but none of my dragster. At that time I was the head tech man at Martin 131 and also raced there on Saturday nights, then at Milan on Sundays. I would really like to have some shots of me racing my car if I can find who was shooting pictures back then.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot. Dave Crane davecranemuseum@sbcglobal. net 269-965-4711.

Decided to build a street version of the Mover and hope to have it completed on 2011. Any pictures or leads appreciated. jwlaytonathome@aol.

After submitting post, I realized I mis-spelled ONONDAGA. my apologies.
5/4/2010 - Randy
Bill W. , with all due respect, I never mentioned anything about ''not liking'' what was posted. And I am certainly not the ''forum police''. I am all about dragstrips and racetracks being reopened in Michigan. And if Onodaga does open this year, I am sure I will make it out there.

If you go to the Onodaga postings on here, you will see the ''webmaster'' is the ‘real forum police’. Onodaga is a hot topic right now and getting all kinds of attention, which is good. So all I was saying was if there are comments regarding Onodaga, it is more informative to post it in the actual area on this site. And I am not saying anything about who can post what…was just trying to give constructive advice so Onodaga fans would see the comments.

That’s all….
4/23/2010 - Jeff Cook
Good luck with that Julie.

4/14/2010 - BILL WHITT
RANDY, WHO MADE YOU THE FORUM POLICE, WE CAN TALK ABOUT WHAT WE WANT. IF YOU DON''T LIKE IT DON''T READ IT. THERE IS A LOT OF US THAT WILL BE GOING TO ONONDAGA WHEN THEY OPEN WE MIGHT GET A FAIR SHAKE THERE.
4/8/2010 - Randy
IMO - I think all Onondaga Dragway comments should be posted in the Onondaga Dragway area. this one is for info n updates for MILAN DRAGWAY (which from my understanding is in no way associated with Onondaga Dragway). Thank you.

4/8/2010 - julie
The Onondaga drag strip will not be opening up again. It is up for hearing and on the off-chance that the Board approves the permit, injunctions and appeals will be sought, indefinitely until such time as the matter is abandoned.
3/7/2010 - RON GARZA
Onondaga Dragway is going to open back up.
2/12/2010 - Mike S
Thanks for the help Mickey. I will check those pics out but I think the car I found is a different one. I recall it was built at a place called Hot Rod Barn? Located either near or at the location of the old Redford speed shop.
12/21/2009 - Mickey Stamper
Mike S. I forgot to mention that the car was built at Serbay''s.
12/18/2009 - Mickey Stamper
Mike S. I did not remember anything special about the rear 1/4 windows on Serbay''s FishPeddler. I was in to the Ypsi Auto Heritage Museum yesterday and looked at some photos of the car and I saw nothing out of the ordinary. FYI The Museum is at the corner of Cross & River street in depot town and there are several photos of all of Serbay''s race cars from the Thriller to the Fishpeddler.

10/9/2009 - Mike S
Mickey ,the Cuda I found was built exactly as you described. Injected Hemi eng w/ TF trans. Was the car built at Serbay? Any pictures of the car available? When I saw it last it had been repainted several times and was still about 98% intact. There was one unique feature that the car did have in the rear quarter window area. Perhaps you can tell me about it.

I have been unable to find a picture of another early Cuda funny with this treatment of the quarter window. Maybe it is a completely different car. Any info you might have would be very helpful. Thanks,Mike.

10/6/2009 - Mickey
The Fishpeddler was not renamed as long as Serbay''s owned it. I don''t remember who bought it or where it went, but Silverfish does sound familiar. The Fishpeddler was a production Cuda body with fiberglass doors, deck lid and a one piece flip up fiberglass front end. The early funny cars had the engine sitting about under the windshield with the driver almost in the back seat.

9/30/2009 - Mike S
To Mickey Was the Serbay Cuda also ran as the Silverfish? I have the Detroit at War videos and it does appear in that video. I found an early Cuda funny about 15 years ago in Detroit. I would like to speak to you about it.
8/3/2009 - Mickey
Serbay Motors Mad Mouse & Mad Moose-The Mad Mouse was sold to Dick Mericle in I think 1967 when Serbay built an early stage funny car, a 67 Barracuca the Fish Peddler. Dick ran the Mad Mouse in 67 then sold it to Terry Rowe in early 68. I helped Terry with the car in 68. We painted it Orange & called it the Pied-Pipper. Eventually the engine was sold to Dick Vreeland and we put it into a 68 GTX called theTasmanian Devil.

Rocky Dow bought the car and made it street legal. Bill Andress had the Mad Moose and I don''t know who he sold it t. I worked for Serbay Motors back then.

Was at Milan a few weeks ago at the high school drags with the CINTRON sled. Of course, being a drag racing fan, I HAD A BLAST. Suprised that there wasn''t more late-90''s Mustangs and Camaros than there actually was. Guess that''s not popular anymore. Saw a really sharp Buick Riviera that was driven by a lady (WHICH IS TOTALLY AWESOME!).

I wish my dad would''ve kept his Riv :(. And suprised Doug won in his Oldsmobile! Congratulations and keep the passion alive!.
3/14/2009 - Ted
does anyone here rember 2 cars from serbay motors in Ypsi one was the mad moose and one was the mad mouse. i know both were sold off when serbays went out of bussiness.
3/11/2009 - Jim Martin
Della Woods, I remember you running your funny car at Lapeer Dragway quite a few times when iI was there, I think it''s name was the Funny Honey,or something like that.
3/10/2009 - Bill M
Last fall i was at US-131 DRAGSTRIP man is that ever a nice place. it is so much nicer and up to date than Milan, and they don''t have that HOT SHOT attitude like Milan. i plan on doing all my racing there this year. give it a try.

3/10/2009 - della woods
looking for videos and/or pics of our cars.

loved running at Milan.
12/21/2008 - Tony
Does anyone remember an orange / white stripe 69 Chevelle that raced at Milan in the 1969-1971 timeframe? This was a 427/425hp 4-speed car driven by John Obeginski from Belleville. I understand he trophied pretty regularly at Milan. Any info would be great - please email me at anausied@gmail. com.

and thanks for the great site!.
9/28/2008 - Mike McDonald
Anyone remember a Silver and Black 1968 Hurst Olds called the REM RAM out of Grand Rapids and sponsored by Row Motors. Drag raced by Mike Hardy and Doug Dieleski. Other sponsers were Rem Die Casting in Holland, MI, maybe Lacks Industries in Grand Rapids, J&E Ford Sunoco, Bob Madden''s Party Store. The car ran at US-131, Milan and other tracks. Said to have held the E/SA MPH record at Milan in 1970.

Anyone have information, memories, photos, film on this drag car please contact me at McDonald_M@72ho. com or home # 616-887-3090. THANKS.

Hi guys, wanted to let you know that I am looking for the Mystery Mover. It was a wheel stander (Corvair Van) that my Father Jack Layton built back in the mid to late 60''s. Bob Ries was the driver also from Howell and they ran against the Little Red Wagon, Hurst Hemi Underglass and others. Any leads or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks,Bill Layton 517-861-7308.

10/10/2007 - Randy
OK, going to try this again. I am not sure why the last submission and pictures did not make it to the webmaster, but anyway. when I returned to Milan for the Motor City Nats, I will have to say it was a night and day difference.

The weather was awesome for racing and the times and speeds proved it. When I called to make sure they were racing (just wanted to double that my ticket was to be honored check before I drove all that way again) the gentleman that answered was upbeat and very helpful. My ticket was indeed good and once he gave me that info, he asked if I had purchased a parking pass.

of coarse I said yes and he said to make sure to bring it with as they WERE honoring those as well (how about that). Got there and it even looked like the parking lot ''might'' have been leveled a bit from the last trip. Well everyone of the staff was cheerful and pleasant.

Made for a good start of the day. I stayed there till the end (about 11:00pm) and what a great day. Good crowd, good weather and good turn-out of cars for a return engagment. Sean, I do know why Milan can do the advertising they do.

for one, it is a one time event that SUZUKI sponsors (so that is where the big $ comes from for advertising). Also, look at the prices here for concessions (and other items i.

e. parking) and ''what not'' compared to a local track (Auto City speedway hot dog = $1. 50 / Milan hot dog = $2. 50 for one example).

Also the signage around for sponsors that want to be a part of that ONE evvent brings in $ as well. So goes with out saying.

I know the local tracks want to advertise big, but $''s control a lot of that. Radio and TV do cost, and I know it hits the masses, but being that you Nate or I (and a few others on here) are die-hard fans, we listen / look for those ad''s. The average person might let that go in one ear and out the other. Especially of your listening audience is uninterested in the first place.

There is more I can say about this, but I want the submissions to be posted. so I will stop here.

9/20/2007 - Sean Fitzgerald
At least they are smart enough to do great commercials.
9/20/2007 - Randy
Well, the MOTOR CITY NAT''s are going to be at Milan (TAKE 2) and weather is suppose to be nice. I hope this experience is to be better than the last.
9/14/2007 - Randy
Very cool PINKS ALLOUT episode that aired last night on SPEED TV. The episode was taped this past summer at MILAN. The staff of the show gave out some good props about Detroit and Michigan.
9/11/2007 - Randy
to Bob. that is one thing I like about Lapeer as well.

they keep it old school and affordable for the weekend warrior. I hope they keep this place alive and kickin.

9/9/2007 - BOB MCCOMB
Randy, that''s why i go to Lapeer Dragway now, on SAT i can get 15 to 20 test runs instead of 3 at MILAN. Iget a lot more for my money at Lapeer. and they treat you good.
9/6/2007 - Randy
Thanks Sean & Steve for your thoughts. I know $10, is not a big deal to whine about, but every little bit helps the fan. Face it, $10 is only 3 gallons of gas, but it is also a couple track dogs and a drink.

So I am saving all my change now :).
9/2/2007 - Steve Fraley
Wow, $10. 00 just to park your car?? I could see it should you pull up in a motor home or something big like that but money just to park? I know that would add up on a big weekend for the track but unless it''s a reserved or VIP lot to me that''s a rip off. I could see a $10. 00 parking fee in exchange for a credit voucher for that amount at the concession stand. They would still make money.

I know a 20oz coke from a syrup dispenser costs only pennies to the vendor (that''s pure pop not cut with ice) Just like a tap beer is under 25 cents per glass. This of course doesn''t include the cost of labor, cups ect. Hot dogs and buns, bought in bulk from resturant suppliers are cheap too. So that would make more sense.

The customer would get something for his money and the track wouldn''t have a stick in the eye for the parking fee. That $10. 00 in a voucher would still net the track at least $6. 00 profit and keep people coming back more often.

8/28/2007 - Randy
Yeeaaaa. fortunately I was there early enough to park somewhat close to the track.

there were other poor souls that had to park quite a bit away. I know that every $ counts for them, but it does for the fan as well. I mean $10 is not going to break the track.

and, yes, if this was some local circle track, it''d be all over. But look at the palace charging $15 to park for a concert.

that''s crazy. But there are the fans that have no quams about it.

Just shocked me that we couldn''t use our pass again. I mean if I would have seen some kind of racing, that might be different.

8/27/2007 - Sean Fitzgerald
I think it is hilarious that Milan actually charges people to park and treats there fans like that. If a circle track like Autocity or Dixie did that they would be done the next week as no one would ever come back. But then again Milan actually knows how to promote to people not yet inside the track on the night of the races. I heard several radio spots for Milan and saw one TV commercial. Apparently advertising to a person not already part of your fan base makes sense, something for some reason not fathomed by the short track owners of our state, or Ohio, and although Ray Charles could see the sense it makes, and he''s both blind and dead, short track owners don''t get it.

Ever heard of hanging a flyer in an Auto parts chain, or better yet partnering with one to get the word out outside you own tiny small town which contrary to popular belief is not the entire world. No, that might make sense and ensure the longevity of you sport. Sheesh I''m fed up watching tracks die!!!!!!!!!!.
8/27/2007 - Randy
OK. Motor City Nat''s got postponed due to the grounds being too wet.

very unfortunate. But I went on Saturday HOPING that they could get races going as I already had tickets and did not want to miss the event if it did get run. I drove thru some crazy rain that morning and sat in my car once I got there for about 2 ours.

When I pulled in to park at the $10 lot, I asked If the races get cancelled, do we get a refund or to park using this parking pass when it is rescheduled? and the answer was NO, there are no refunds for parking. Now, maybe I am just thinking as a supportive fan, but I did not get to see one car head down the track (I guess about 10 cars did do runs early in the day), BUT I DID buy food/sodas/waters & a shirt while there. So I ended up spending about $40 and then add to that $10 for parking, NOT COUNTING THE ticket AND GAS TO GET OUT THERE. Overall it was a pretty expensive day to walk around puddles.

My point is, I cannot belive that Milan could not say, HEY, all you fans that braved the wettness and bad weather, you will be able to use your parking pass for the re-scheduled event. come on, give the loyal fans a little bit of a break.

Can''t wait to do it all over again in Sept.
8/12/2007 - larry porter
the riley''s were my next door neighbors growing up in ypsilanti, michcliff and barb always gave me a job there on Sundays emptying trash cans and running errands i saw alot of great race cars and drivers back then,1969-1975. i know cliff passed away years ago, though not sure about barb or the boy''smy uncle sam stockwell raced there back then so i was always at the track every weekend. great memories larry porter.
3/18/2007 - Steve Stasko
Hello, I''m looking for any pictures of the Zoom-O 1964 Dodge that was raced by Ron Mancini in 1969. I now have the car and am trying to make a scrapbook of pictures. Anything you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve Stasko sixpakdodge@yahoo. com.

2/21/2007 - RON GARZA
ROD, You are so right i know a lot of racers including myself that only go to tracks that run 1/8 mile events. It is just so much safer than 1/4 mi. that i don't know why the sanctioning org. don't outlaw 1/4 mile racing. It seems like all the bad accidents are at the 1/4 mile.

And it is so much better on your car. If Milan ran 1/8 mi. I would come back.

2/18/2007 - ROD MAUL
I wonder why Milan don't get with the program like all the other tracks are doing and start running more 1/8 mile events. That is what most racers like. They are quick ,a lot safer and no one can sand bag. IT'S real racing. Come on Milan lets get with it.

Rod.

John, I rememberthat guy also ran a dragster at Lapeer DRAGWAY quite often. sorry i never took any pictures. Rich.
11/25/2006 - John Stevens
Richard, thanks for answering, the guy that own'd it, name was Brian Sammons, he was my MAC tool dealer when I still lived in Flint, I was wondring if there was any pictures of it out there, as he didn't have any, it's a long shot I know but figured I try, Thanks again.

Does anyone remember or possibly have pictures of a 1970 Buick Gran Sport that ran at Milan in the 70's-early 80's? It was either dark blue or black, and had SHOWDOWN painted on the doors? I now own the car and would LOVE some information on it. Thanks.
11/12/2006 - JEFF YAX
I remember back in the 60's and 70's when Cliff RILEY owned Milan Dragway, he was fair to everyone even the small guy. Everyone got a fair shake in thoes days. Does anybody know if Cliff is still around and if so what's he doing nowadays.

Ned, I was down there for the Motor City Nationals (IHRA) and there are still some good Runners, THE GREEK Chris Karamasines, Gary Denshom, Clay Millikin, Doug Kallitta, Dell Worsham, ETC,ETC.
7/14/2006 - Ned Black
DOSE ANY ONE KNOW WHY THERE ARE NO BIG NAMES RUNNING HERE ANY MORE, BACK IN THE OLD DAYS CLIFF HAD A LOT OF BIG NAMES HERE.
3/26/2006 - Richard Kern
Hey JOSH, That is normal for Milan I have been there a few times and all I ever got was 3 test runs in. If you want to get a lot of test runs for your money go to Lapeer Dragway, thats where I go now. They run a good non stop test & tune program, I get at least 15 to 20 test runs a day, every time I go there. You can really check your car out. Richard.

3/23/2006 - JOSH DILLING
I WAS AT MILAN LAST FALL TO TEST AND TUNE AND THERE WASNT MANY CARS,BUT THEY WOULD ONLY LET ME RUN THREE TEST RUNS. A LOT OF THE TIME NOTHING WAS GOING ON. IS THIS NORMAL?.
7/29/2005 - Randy Adam
I made it out to Milan for the Motor City Nats and it was awesome. A lot of cars, people (even though it did rain on Sat. a. m. ) and racin ! They do a good job out there and it is good to see that they are alive and doing well.

keep it up Milan, good job!!!.
