The Big R was probably where Wilson Creek Café sits today, or near the Subway next door. The Big R was destroyed by fire in 1992 and the awesome sign attached to the building was blamed. It had beer and chops while also acting as a bus station in the early days. It also hosted local gatherings such as the Lions Club. The place went back to the 1940's.
