The Island View Cabins go back to to the 1930's. It was run by Mrs. Edna Glover at that time. Later, Van and Ethel VanCott took over. Eventually the Island View Lodge Motel was built, probably in the 1950's. The cabins and the motel were separate according to an old news article. Eventually the name was changed to the Chalet North Motel. Sometime between 2005 and 2009, the motel was razed to make way for the Mackinac Straits Health System facility.
