I would estimate the Ferris Inn goes back to the 1960's. It was liquidated in 2002 and a Walgreen's sits on the lot as of 2023. It was once owned by Dan Carter and Steve Moerdyk who owned some other motels, notably Hayner's in Petoskey which I have covered HERE. According to an old Big Rapids High School yearbook, there was also a Ferris Inn Restaurant. This motel may have been the same as the Big Rapids Motel. The sign on the street clearly says Ferris Inn but you can see the building behind it has the kidney shaped pool like the postcard for the Big Rapids Motel.
