This 2-story motel was listed in Drayton Plains on the postcard but it is now a Waterford Twp mailing address. This area along Loon Lake had a nice little thing going back in the 1960's. The Sandy Beach Inn was right down the street from this place. The sign on this motel is fantastic. I would pay good money for an original postcard of it.
It had swimming at the beach, fishing, boating and of course the Putt-Putt next door which can be seen on the 1964 aerial photo. The BP station on the site today sits almost exactly in the footprint of the old motel. There is a Howard Johnson's building adjacent to this property that is still standing although it has been converted to an office.
