The theater opened in 1927. It was part of the renowned Butterfield chain which once dominated the film exhibition business in Michigan. It was considered an Art House in the 1960's probably catering to the academic crowd in East Lansing/MSU. Eventually the place fell into disrepair and it was closed. The structure was demolished in Sept of 1985.
