Update 12/16/2025 from WWW:
Based on Helen's input I was able to locate this place. The old lot sat where Central Ave and W Grand River is now. Central Ave did not exist back when this place was built, probably in the 1950s. The construction of Central probably wiped this place out when it was built in the late 80s or early 90s.
Update 12/16/2025 from Helen S. Corkin:
I think the location was roughly across from where Dusty's Cellar is now. It seemed quite "out in the country" in the 50's.
This little store goes back to 1950 at least and was co-owned by Dorothy McCloud, who was also an instructor at Michigan State. One of the things you could get at the store was silhouettes, which were a "big thing" most families got in the 1950's and 1960's. They were basically black cardboard cutouts of the profiles of loved ones you could frame. The McCloud's also had an elaborate pool behind the store. The store itself featured a grass roof. The store closed in 1966. I am not finding the exact location of this place despite having the historical address. I will assume it is long gone.
