The old Friendly Village Shops were opened in April 1965. The little plaza once housed Kilwin's Candy Creations, Horniman Gift Shop and Hen House Beauty Salon. The ads in the news ended in the early 1970's. The structure has been used for various outlets over the years. As of 2023, the building at 555 W Mitchell is now Petoskey Club which is a mental health facility.
