The Maple Theatre has been under new management since February 2012, when Landmark left. The new owner is a former employee of the theatre. The theatre has been closed since July 1, as repairs to the building are being made. It is slated to reopen sometime this fall. As of October 8, it is not yet reopened.

According to an article in the Detroit Free Press, The Maple is due to close at the end of the month when Landmark Theaters pulls out. WDIV reported on the same day that it will remain open, under a different operator, who said that the operation will be upgraded with bigger screens, digital projection, and new seats.

Landmark purchased this from AMC probably some time in 1998, I knew quite a few people working there at the time. The theatre, as all Landmarks, now exclusively shows independent films.
4/29/2004 - Greg Fitrakis
I Opened the Maple Theatre, as Manager for Suburban Detroit Theatres. SDT Theatres always intended the Maple to show foreign films. It was sold to AMC and resold to Landmark.
