Update 4/20/2025: After many hours of research that occurred over many years (much more time than I would like to admit), I believe I have at least found the location of this old motel. There was/is a structure next door to the property that still stands. It has a very unique crosshatch pattern on what used to be the garage door.
I think what this represents is a wooden frame with screens. That would allow for opening the garage door in the summer and having it screened in to keep the bugs out. That feature is now gone but the roof is the same as it was when I was there in 2003. There is even a little addition with a shed roof that is seen then and now. The clincher is an object with a blue tarp over it behind the motel in 2003 that I am seeing on the 2008 street view. Add that all up and there is no way it is a coincidence.
As for the main motel structure, the shape of the building in the historical aerial photos matches pretty well as does the broken pavement in front of it. The structure sat perpendicular to the road which threw me off a bit. The address I am using may not be what it was in the old days, as the structure on the lot now was built in 2005.
I took these photos in 2003 and did not have any GPS info with them. I have looked at all the old motel postcards for Ishpeming I could find and as of yet I cannot identify this place. I am assuming it was on 41 as that was my route back then as I recall. I will continue to research it and find the name of it eventually.
