The Goldernaire goes back to the 1950's. It was established by Peter Solomon, the guy who was behind the Pontchartrain Hotel. I hadn't realized the Pontchartrain we all knew, that being the version built in the early 60's, was using a name of an earlier hotel that operated from 1905-1919. As for the Goldenaire, it suffered a similar fate that so many other establishments in Detroit did. The early years were good, then reports of crime come in by the 60's and 70's. In 1977, the court issued a padlock order due to incessant prostitution issues at the motel. By the year 2000, it was demolished.
