The Mayflower goes back to the mid 1950's. It was billed as "Michigan's Largest and Finest Motel" back then and it is very long. It had 66 units which is decent. One point of trivia is the widow of Pvt. Eddie Slovik, the only soldier executed for desertion since the Civil War, resided here toward the end of her days. The workers at the motel were helping take care of her as she had fallen ill. The motel is still operating as of 2023 as Victory Inn & Suites.
