Northwestern Boat Co. goes back to 1939. It was down the street from where I lived in Southfield and my family always got our marine supplies from there. There was a guy named Curly running it who was great. They had boats, trailers, motors, boat kits (my brother bought a Carlson kit there) and also handled winterizing and repairs. They lasted a surprisingly long time, with the building not being demolished until about 2017. A car wash sits on the site today. As of 2023, there is a Northwestern Boat still operating in Livonia at 19276 Middlebelt Rd.
